Our Design Story

The design of MudPuppy didn’t happen overnight. 

Over the past year, we tested multiple prototypes across over 20 different breeds of dogs, big and small, to ensure the perfect balance of comfort and buoyancy. 

We listened to feedback from adventurous dog owners who needed to know their dogs would be safe on open waters, as well as city dwellers who wanted additional protection for their pups in the local pools. Our test customers ranged from professional doggy paddlers to first time swimmers. After a year, we are proud to have designed a doggy life vest that looks as good as it performs. 

Along the way, we also connected with several manufacturers, searching for a partner who could meet our high standards—not just in quality, but in ethical labor practices and sustainable production. Finally we found a mom and pop shop that loves animals just as much as we do.
